News : Album Releases Updates working again and new site

by on Jan.08, 2013, under News

For the past little while the daily New Album Releases have not been so daily and has been scant on releases.
That has now been fixed.
Later today (at the regular post time of 3pm EST) a list of nearly 30 releases since the beginning of 2013 will be posted, and then daily updates will follow.

In other news, I am working on a new website design which will make for consuming all the daily update data much simpler. Both the New Album Releases and the Podcasts updates will get their own widget on the site and will consolidate all the data in one spot.

You can view the work in progress site at http://beta.mechanicalnation.com
I would appreciate any feedback you may have as I shape the look and usability of the new site. Contact me at info@mechanicalnation.com

Thank you.
adrian.

New Podcasts Added

by on Oct.19, 2012, under News

I would like to welcome three new podcasts to our list:

DarkCompass is a weekly show out of the UK, and features both a mix of industrial/EBM as well as other more mainstream and indie acts. The host Rowley, has been producing weekly shows since 2004.

The Ungodly Hour is a great 3 hour industrial/EBM podcast produced by rE\dOx. This weekly show features a lot of interesting editorial content as well for the geek in all of us. This is another long running show having been around since 2003.

Synthesize me – Your weekly synthesized soundtrack is an synthpop/EBM podcast out of Israel. Oren Amram’s show mixes 10 awesome tracks on a weekly basis.

I would like to thank the people that have brought these shows to my attention. You know who you are!

If you know of any shows that I’m currently not following here on Mechanical Nation, please send me an email and let me know.

News : Event Calendar Update

by on Jun.29, 2012, under News

I need your help.

In order for this open calendar project to be useful to everyone in our scene we need two things:
1. We need to to populate the calendar with events.
2. We need to spread the word about its existence.

The more locations we can cover, and the more people know about it, the  more people can find it useful.

So if you’ve ever been in a situation where you were wondering if there are any events going on in your city on the coming weekend or the coming month, please consider helping us out.
Even by submitting one event or by telling one friend about our site/calendar, you are likely making a difference in getting people out to events in out scene.
——–
In other news the Event Calendar can now accept anonymous event submissions on the Event Calendar Submissions page.

All submitted events are held for approval before being posted to the event calendar and the system will email you once your event is approved. So get submitting!

Events are not limited to any geographical region, so feel free to post events from around the globe.

If you are an event promoter or have a lot of regular events to post, I can set up a contributor account for you on the site so you can submit and edit your events. Contact me at info [at] mechanicalnation.com

News : Event Calendar (beta)

by on Jun.25, 2012, under News

I have added a new section to the website; an Event Calendar.

The goal behind this new feature is to have one point of information for all industrial music events going on in North America (maybe one day the whole world). Since the calendar has capability to filter by location (country, state/province, city) anyone anywhere on this planet should be able to find out what is happening in their town, pretty easily.
I know I find myself missing local events (both concerts and club nights) just because there’s no one place that has everything listed. Hopefully if this tool works and is kept up to date, it will solve the same problem for others as well.

To start I will only be keeping track of local events as I don’t have any good sources of events from other locations (unless I get some good help to events outsize my geographic area).

Both concerts and club nights will be added to the event calendar as they are both events that I’d want to know about attending.

I do want to put out a call for help from event organizers (or people in the know) to help me populate and keep this tool up to date. Send me an email to info@mechanicalnation.com
Pass this message along to anyone that you think may be able to help.

News : Site organization

by on Jun.15, 2012, under News

I’ve made some changes to how the site is organized.

The main (home) page will not display the Daily Digest Items (Podcasts and New Album Releases) anymore. Those items can be accessed from the menu up top under the Daily Digest Items menu. I found that the regular content posts get buried in the daily updates the site generates automatically.

The RSS feed will still display ALL the content as will the Facebook Page. Those do not get the filtered view. Only the site gets the filtered view.

A new site design is still in the works but finding time to code it has been tough. The biggest change will be in the way the users will be able to interact with the large amounts of content (podcasts and new album releases) posted daily.
When it’s ready you will all know. The interface is vastly different. If you’d like to contribute some ‘beta’ testing time and give me some input on the new design, send me a line.

News: All Cities Destroyed tour in Toronto

by on Jun.10, 2012, under News

Aesthetic Perfection is on tour and their All Cities Destroyed Tour is taking them through Toronto, Canada. The evening of Saturday July 7th 2012 in Toronto should be an evening of biblical proportions as Aesthetic Perfection, [X]-RX, BlackOPS and DYM will perform at Neu+ral (349A College St, Toronto).

I have seen Aesthetic Perfection and [X]-RX perform before and they blew the roof off the venues they played at. Their show at Neu+ral should be no different this time.

A great big thank you to the Darker Side of Light Productions team for bringing these bands into Toronto.

News: ‘End of Days’ tour in Toronto

by on Jun.10, 2012, under News

On July 11, 2012 the End of Days tour makes their stop in Toronto Canada. iVardensphere, W.A.S.T.E., Ad-ver-sary and End the DJ will be playing in the back room of The Rivoli (at 334 Queen St. West).

Event details can be found on the Neuinstallation.net web page or on the Facebook event page.

If you’re in the neighbourhood you need to come out and see this show. All the performers are known to put on an incredible performance and having them all in one venue will certainly make for an unbelievable event.
ISN Radio is doing a giveaway offering a chance for concert ticket holders to attend an exclusive VIP meet-and-greet session with the bands. How awesome is that! All the details are available on the ISN Radio VIP Party registration page.

And if this post isn’t enough to make you come out, you should read the ‘8 Reasons to go to Neuinstallation on July 11‘ by my good friend DJ Hangedman.

A great big thank you to the Neuinstallation team for bringing these bands to Toronto! You guys are the best.

I will certainly be there as this is a show not to be missed.

News: Updated and New Podcasts

by on Jun.10, 2012, under News

It seems that Communion After Dark and Razor Blade Dance Floor podcasts hadn’t been updating in the podcasts tracking tool. It turns out their new websites didn’t use the same link I had previously, and no updates.
Yesterday I corrected this, and the last post in the Podcasts section has their latest few podcasts showing. From now on things should keep updating regularly.
If your podcast is listed and you change your website, please let me know.

In other news we are now tracking another podcast from our good friends at I Die : You Die. Their ‘Mixtape’ (as they call it) is a monthly podcast featuring a unique picks. Tomorrow’s podcast update should include their podcast. Watch for it!
