Electro-industrial group, How to Destroy Angels, are capturing alternative music listeners, and even random YouTube users with their infectious new music. If you’ve been searching for music around YouTube, especially of the rock genre, you would most probably be recommended to view one of their MVs, Ice Age or Keep It Together. You might just even recognize them as their song, Is Your Love Strong Enough, was part of the hit movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. They have just put up a new video, The Loop Closes. The single is part of an 8-compilation EP entitled, An Omen EP, released November 2012. How to Destroy Angels is a group formed by Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross, and Rob Sheridan. The group is named after a 1984 Coil single of the same name. The genre they are in now might be for a choice audience but once you get to listen, you’ll surely be drawn in.

The Online Exposure
Even if the former rock star has moved to a genre belonging to those with accustomed taste to industrial electronic, his wise decision to keep track of his work in popular networking sites like Facebook, YouTube and Tumblr, is surely paying off.  Following in those footsteps, Reznor has made it possible to transition from mainstream rock to industrial/electronic, and then making it possible to bring mainstream listeners to such a unique music genre.

The Thrill and The Calm, Together
Much like playing poker where you feel the thrill of predicting what cards come to play and at the same time maintaining the calm to focus on your game, How To Destroy Angels’ music embodies a thrill that will keep you floored while listening then simultaneously digging deep into your emotions. According to a review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine, what’s so appealing about An Omen EP is how it’s at once out of reach and immediate. It is elusive yet not elliptical; it luxuriates in its sound but digs deeper than the surface.

The Omen EP may not fully satisfy as a compilation EP, but Reznor and the group has set the mood for their upcoming full major album, titled Welcome Oblivion. The album is planned for release this March 5 through Columbia Records.
