Canadian artist and sound designer Réal Cardinal released a new album in mid June 2013 under his Comaduster project moniker, on the label Tympanik Audio.

Contained in the 10 tracks are some mind blowingly good IDM glitch and dark tunes.
The album is rather varied in tempo, style and feel. Some tracks like “Unfound” and “Connecting the Seams” are quieter and ballad oriented, while others are loud proud and in your face like the opening track “Ma” and “Winter Eyes”, and still others defy any classification, only to say that they build a wonderful, dark, crunchy and complex soundscapes. Speaking of dark, the vocal elements on this album have the effect of softening an otherwise aggressive, dark and glitch tracks. Tracks like “Walls” and Futureproof Design” start out crunchy and dark, get progressively softer and end by coming full circle with the shound.

There is also a lot of wub-wub influences on many tracks, and the result is a fresh take on the beats and rhythms. I get shivers when I listen to some of the tracks. The d-step influences make for some powerful passages.
Tracks like “Futureproof Designs” have a reminiscing feeling of DYM tracks so do a few others. There’s a hint of some of the unique elements that DYM uses in their music scattered sparingly throughout this album. In fact I would even go as far to say that if you enjoy the material DYM puts out, you will likely enjoy Comaduster’s new album.
